Jamie Lee Curtis has stated that her daughter is transgender and that she is proud of her.
For the first time, Jamie Lee Curtis has openly revealed that her younger kid is a transgender woman.
The Golden Globe-winning actress made the revelation in a new cover article with AARP magazine, saying she and her husband Christopher Guest "watched in awe and delight as our son became our daughter Ruby."
Ruby, 25, is one of two children adopted by Curtis and Guest, who are most known for their roles as lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel in "This Is Spinal Tap." Annie, the couple's 34-year-old daughter, is also a member of the family.
Curtis, whose film credits include "Halloween," "Freaky Friday," and "My Girl," also stated in the interview that Ruby, a computer game editor, plans to marry next year "in a ceremony that I will officiate." She didn't reveal anything else about the forthcoming wedding.
On the possibility of becoming a grandma in the future, the 62-year-old actress told AARP, a nonprofit group that supports the interests of older people, "Not yet, but I do want to."
On Thursday, Curtis posted a snapshot of her AARP magazine cover to Instagram, assuring her 3.3 million followers that she had plenty of reasons to grin.
"In pictures, I seldom grin. It's an old notion. But I couldn't stop myself from smiling during this shot with @aarp @brianbowensmith because I am SO HAPPY! "The caption stated.
Curtis, a longtime LGBTQ ally, posted a Huffington Post piece on Twitter in 2017: "Dear Trans Children, The letter that we all wish we could have written. (From a transgender teacher)"
She stated this year that she will direct and appear in a television film about Sara Cunningham and her group Free Mom Hugs, which seeks to encourage "the world to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community via visibility, education, and dialogue."
